Our Wedding Video (finally!)

A couple of days ago, we received something in the mail we've been waiting for for over seven months; our wedding video! I literally jumped up and down in the street when I saw it in our mailbox. Joe and I got cozy on the couch and finally watched our hour and fifteen minute long wedding video, and both cried a little. It was so cool to be able to watch that day happen from a different perspective and recall little details we had forgotten about. I love our wedding video so much and am so happy we had one made!

The videographers also included a short little trailer to the video that I decided to share here. I could probably watch it 100 times in a row!

Musical Favors

Music is something that's very important to Joe and I. It was one of the first things we really connected over when we first started dating, and something we continue to bond over, whether it be going to shows together or singing our hearts out together while driving home late at night. So when it came to wedding planning, we wanted to make sure music played a big part. After choosing the song we wanted to have playing during our first dance (Crazier by Taylor Swift, the song playing in the background when we shared our first kiss) and the songs that would play during the reception, we wanted to take it a bit further.

For me, and probably a lot of people, music is something that really brings back memories and can really take me back to a certain place and time. When trying to think of a fun wedding favor, we first thought about doing sunglasses, since it'd be so hot and sunny out, but decided we'd want something that meant a little more. What could be a good souvenir of the day, something that brought back memories. And then it made sense, wedding soundtracks. We would put together a playlist of songs that meant something to us, and that we knew would always take us, and hopefully other people, back to that wonderful day.

Together, we thought of the perfect songs we wanted to share with everyone, then Joe took the time to put then in an order that he thought would transition well. We found these amazing CD sleeves and knew they would be perfect, along with the adorable CDs that resemble records. I spent about four days burning all 125 discs individually. When the product was all done, we couldn't be happier with the results. We were (and still are) so excited to be giving our guests this little gift that we put time and thought into. And even though I know these songs mean so much more to us than anyone we gave this playlist to, I was so happy to be able to share this part of us to the people that we love.

I'm so happy we ended up with this as a wedding favor, it's one of the many, many souvenirs from that day that I'll treasure forever. I keep a copy of it in my car and when I listen to it, it does when I was really hoping it would do for me, completely take me back to the wonderful feelings I had on June 13. 

The Key(s) to a Happy Marriage

At our wedding, something we had out and hoped everyone would participate in was sharing with us what they thought was the key to a happy marriage. And the results were amazing. Some were silly, some were even just scribbles from little kids, but this is something we are both so happy that we did. Every person there was someone who's opinions we really value, and it was so great being able to go through and read everyone's advice to us; heartfelt, sweet and beautiful advice.

This is one of my favorite little keepsakes from our wedding because all of these people are so important to us, and having this little wooden box full of their words and reminders is something we will treasure forever.

If you haven't gotten married yet and are going to someday, something I recommend to you is to have a place for your friends and family to give you advice, you'll be happy you did. xo.

Where do I even begin. The day of June 13, 2014 was the absolute best of my life. By far. It was the day I married my very best friend, the day Joe and I planned for about fifteen months,  and the day I dreamed about since I was a little kid. I always pictured the white dress, pretty flowers, a big cake, and a lot of people dancing, and I got all of that. But what made the day so amazing was the way I felt the entire day. Looking at Joe and feeling like the luckiest girl alive, he's all mine! The two of us made it somewhere that so many people only dream about, finding someone you not only want to spend your life with, but need to spend your life with. The party was amazing, but what made me so happy was knowing it was the first day of our forever, making that small step under the arbor and that ginormous step in life, and being 110% sure about it. I couldn't be happier to be such an amazing man's wife, and I am thrilled to see what life has in store for us.
